e-Form RS  times out after 20 minutes of inactivity within the program, and you are disconnected from our server. This security measure prevents unauthorized access if you forget to log out of e-Form RS and makes it possible for you to leave e-Form RS without logging out.

The IRS does not re-issue every publication every year, so we have included the latest final versions that were available. These will be updated as the IRS releases newer information.

Adobe Acrobat Reader has several ways to enlarge the text on the screen. You can maximize the window so that it fills the entire screen, and also change the viewable form by clicking one of the three display icons or selecting a larger setting under the View menu. Clicking the magnifying glass icon with the + on it will also enlarge the text. See Adobe Acrobat Reader help for further details.

Print only the relevant pages that you need, instead of the entire document. Since instruction files now contain all the graphics and fonts included in the original document, they print more slowly than plain-text documents.

If other fields on the same form compute, check the wording on the form. It might say something like "If line 23 is greater than 5000, add lines 25 through 30" which means we don't compute the field unless the condition is met. If the field is green (marked as a limitation field), a result is computed only in certain cases but not in others, such as when income is high enough that a limitation worksheet should be used.

To request information about a calculation, please fill out the "Product Enhancement Request Form." A link to this form is located on the Home page of e-Form RS. Please include your name and email address, and we will contact you as soon as we have researched the issue.

Note: Only calculation issues will be addressed this way. Other issues should go through the regular support phone lines.

Check your calculations. It could be that the result is a negative number. If this is the case, the parentheses do not display when you have a situation where there are 'cent' fields and the result is a negative number. Turning off the decimal will allow the dollar amount only to show the parentheses.

Import Client Information allows users with Administrator rights to import e-Form CD client profile information into the e-Form RS client database. Only information from the client profile is imported. Saved forms or form lists cannot be imported. An Import should be run on a workstation that has current year or prior year e-Form installed and running. To avoid duplicate client profile records, import only the most recent CD database.

The Import tab is accessed for Form data import capability so you can import data from an Excel spreadsheet format into particular form(s) and client(s).

Windows Vista is not supported for e-Form RS 2006, but will be supported for e-Form RS 2007 which is releasing December 2007. You will need admin rights to install it for the first release.

Most Forms providers lock or password protect their programs' client database data to make it harder for their customers to switch vendors. Therefore, we are unable to write a conversion utility to easily convert that data. If you have your client data in another format (such as Database or Spreadsheet), we have a specially formatted blank MS Access database that you can import that data into, which you can then use to transfer it into our Forms program.

Yes. You would need to request a data move by fax on company letterhead to 212-367-6555. You must include the account number of the "from" account and "to" account. If the "from" account and "to" account have different names, a separate fax would be needed from each company. The letter needs to be signed by an Admin or a partner in the company.

Active X controls are updated when necessary enhancements or changes to the program are made.

e-Form RS downloads a set of five ActiveX control files, installs the required fonts and sets up icons, and creates a cookie on your local computer. If any of these parts are deleted, e-Form RS will not work properly.

The five ActiveX control files are automatically downloaded before your initial installation, or when you select Home, then Install e-Form RS. You may view the version of these controls by selecting your browser Internet Options menu and clicking Settings in the Temporary Internet Files section of the General tab. Next, click View Objects to see all of the downloaded program files on your computer. The e-Form RS objects are named RSFDisplay, RSFPageSave, RSFTreeView, RSFConvertMDB, and CLRMachineInfoCtl. The status column should show Installed next to these files.

Install From the Web on the installation page installs and registers the special fonts that e-Form RS requires. It also creates icons for your desktop and Start menu, if you choose to do so during the install. This program will also download a control file, Install, from the Web ActiveX class.

e-Form RS also creates a cookie in your Windows\Cookies directory to store your Data Display Option selections.

If you wish to force the control files and/or the fonts to reinstall, simply select Home, then
Install e-Form RS. The controls download first, then the installation buttons for e-Form RS and Adobe® Acrobat® Reader appear. Click the desired button and follow the instructions on the screen.

Although e-Form RS will run on a computer that does not have it installed, forms may not display, compute, or print properly unless all of the components have been installed. Instructions and publications will not print or display unless Acrobat® Reader has been installed. We recommend installing it on each computer that will be used to access the program.

e-Form RS uses Adobe® Acrobat® Reader to display and print form instructions and publications. If we cannot find this program, you will not be able to view or print instruction files. Adobe® Acrobat® Reader is free to download and use.

The easiest way to tell is to click the Help tab. The version of your installation of e-Form RS as well as other important information will be listed.

When the e-Form RS Administrator in your office sets up the user logins for your account, he or she assigns initial passwords. The e-Form RS Administrator can change a user's password by typing over the current password on the User Info page. You must also type the same password in the Confirm Password field, and then click Save User Data. You do not need to know the old password.

If a user password is forgotten, check with the e-Form RS administrator to retrieve the lost password or to set a new one.

e-Form RS encrypts passwords in the database.

The e-Form RS Administrator creates all user logins for the account, up to the number of user licenses purchased. If a user has a valid login to e-Form RS, that user has access to all current years, forms, instructions, and clients saved in that account. The Administrator can also grant Administrator or Power user rights to another user.

The e-Form RS Administrator can temporarily deny access to a user by selecting the user name from the User List, clicking the User Info tab, and clicking the Lock Out box. The user will be unable to access e-Form RS while this box is marked, but will still be included in the total user count.

The Adminstrator can also reset a user's password without knowing the original password, if a user has forgotten the password.

Your Administrator has the right to add or edit user logins to your account, up to the number of licenses purchased. He or she can also delete existing logins, temporarily disable a users account access, and give other users Administrator or Power user rights. The Administrator can view and change user passwords in the case of a forgotten password.

The initial login of ADMINISTRATOR for your account must use your system password, which is assigned at the time of your initial purchase. This login does not count as part of your total user count and should not be used for completing forms.

Your e-Form RS Administrator must set each account up separately, with separate user logins in each. Our support staff has no access to your accounts user setup.

If the e-Form RS Administrator for your account has created direct login IDs for users, then direct login is possible. Go to https://eformrs.com. You will need your account number, plus the login ID and password that your Administrator created for you.
