Hardware Requirements

Following are the recommended hardware requirements for e-Tools:

  • Pentium III compatible, 500MHz or higher
  • 256 MB RAM or higher
  • 200 MB hard disk space
  • SVGA monitor - 256 colors minimum and 800 X 600 resolution or higher
  • CD-ROM (24x or higher)  Note: In order to accommodate our growing libraries, we expect to move to digital versatile disc (DVD) beginning in 2008.
  • PPC products are designed for professional production work. In addition, Windows Vista and Office 2007 require powerful equipment to operate efficiently. While our software may operate on less powerful hardware and operating systems than listed in our system requirements, we do not believe it will perform at a level suitable for production work in these environments. Of course, as processing speed and RAM are increased, software performance will also improve.

 Software Requirements

Following are the minimum software requirements needed to use e-Tools:

  • Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 3 (SP 4 recommended), Windows XP with SP1 (SP2 recommended), Windows Vista (Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate Editions)
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer (6.0 or greater) PPC also has certified that its products function correctly with Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.
  • Office XP with SP2, Office 2003 with SP1, or Office 2007

Note: Office Student/Teacher and Home & Student editions are not supported. PPC recommends the use of Office Professional edition.

The above service packs are required because they resolve certain Microsoft product feature or security issues that could affect this product.

Tip: Check Microsoft’s Windows Update or Office Update websites for information on installing Service Packs. These can be accessed via www.officeupdate.com.

PPC's software policy follows Microsoft's lifecycle support plan. We do not test or fix our applications for discontinued environments nor guarantee that our products will function properly once a product enters what Microsoft has defined as an unsupported product lifecycle phase.

Our applications may continue to work with Office 2000, SP3 (not recommended for PPC’s SMART e-Practice Aids), but our future releases or product modifications may not. Therefore, we recommend upgrading to a fully supported Microsoft Office version at your earliest convenience.
